Chin Up with Kybella

This week Allergan (makers of Botox, Voluma, Juvederm, and Latisse) launched the Chin Up campaign with their spokesperson Khloe Kardashian for Kybella, a treatment for the double chin now available at A E Skin in Encino, CA.

Kybella - Treatment for the Double Chin

Are you tired of that double chin? Does it make you look overweight, old, or self-conscious? If you've tried diet and exercise and nothing seems to work, then Kybella may be right for you. Kybella is the first and thus far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for submental fullness, or the double chin. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a natural substance found in the body that is used to digest the dietary fay. When injected into the skin, Kybella will dissolve the fat and your body eliminates it naturally over time.

The Kybella Treatment

The Kybella treatment is fast, easy, and comfortable. At A E Skin we numb the skin and use Dr. Alex's painless technique to maximize your comfort. During each treatment a series of Kybella injections are done in the area; the specific number of injections depends on the person. Most people require a series of two to four Kybella treatments every six to eight weeks, but some people require up to six Kybella treatments.

Safety of Kybella

Kybella has been tested on over 1,600 patients in more that 20 clinical studies worldwide. Seventy-nine percent of patients treated with Kybella were satisfied with their results.

After a Kybella Treatment

After your Kybella treatment the area will be swollen for a few days. Side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, redness, numbness, and areas of hardening in the area. Other side effects include hair loss at the injection site, difficulty swallowing, and a temporary assymmetric smile.

Who Should Not Get a Kybella Treatment?

You should not get a Kybella treatment if you have an infection in the area. Kybella has not been studied in women who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breast-feeding. You should not receive Kybella if you have difficulty swallowing, a medical condition in the neck area such as a thyroid abnormality or enlarged lymph nodes, a bleeding disorder, or previous or planned surgery in the area.
