Natural Botox Results in the Forehead

We have another outstanding Botox result to share. In this case is it for treatment of horizontal forehead lines.

What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein used to treat wrinkles caused by facial expressions.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by relaxing muscles that cause wrinkles. This improves the appearance of the wrinkles.

Where can Botox be used?

Botox can be used in many areas. The most common areas include frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead wrinkles (as shown here), and crow’s feet around the eyes. Botox can also be used to treat bunny lines on the nose, dimples on the chin, and vertical bands on the neck. Botox also treats a gummy smile and can provide a lip flip, raise the corners of the mouth, and slim the lower face. For non-cosmetic purposes, Botox can also treat migraine headaches, TMJ pain, and excessive sweating in areas such as the underarms, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet.

Botox in the forehead

The forehead contains multiple muscles that are responsible for different facial expressions. The muscle in the upper forehead is called the frontalis, which is used to raise your eyebrows. There is also a group of muscles between your eyebrow in the area called the glabella that you use to frown. It’s important to distinguish between the two so that you receive the right treatment.

The frontalis muscle on the forehead is highly variable from person to person. For example, it is longer in people who have a broader forehead. So, these people may require a higher dose of Botox. But if you have a thin forehead, you may only need a low dose of Botox. In some people, the frontalis is a single muscle that goes across the entire forehead, while in others it may be two muscles that are split, one on each side. This will affect the placement of Botox in the area. In some people the frontalis is only in the central portion of the forehead while in others it can expand with diagonal or even horizontal fibers near the temples and ears. You can tell by looking at the wrinkles formed when you raise your eyebrows. This is important because if your muscle goes to the temples and that area is not treated with Botox, you may have peaked eyebrows. This is easily corrected by treating that area with Botox. Also, when treating the frontalis with Botox, you want to remove the wrinkles but still be able to raise your eyebrows. Some people have wrinkles low on the forehead, close to their eyebrows. If the Botox is placed too low on the forehead, you may have heavy eyebrows. This is why it’s important to start by placing the Botox high on the forehead first and possibly receive additional Botox units to correct it. It’s not uncommon for people to have a Botox treatment in the upper forehead and return after about two weeks for a correction to make it perfect. Before your Botox treatment we’ll take pictures of you making facial expressions. Dr. Alex recommends that you return to the office about two weeks after your treatment to take the pictures again. At that time, if your results aren’t perfect, it can be corrected. If you received the recommend dose of Botox and your results aren’t perfect, we will provide complimentary additional units.

When will I see results of my Botox treatment?

Most people will see results three to four days after a Botox treatment. But it could take up to two weeks to see your full results. So it’s important to be patient.

How long do the results of Botox last?

Most people enjoy the results of their Botox treatment for three to four months. At that time Dr. Alex recommends a maintenance Botox treatment.
